ITV Studios
We were recently commissioned by ITV studios in London to produce the graphics for their primetime series Britain’s Secret Treasures. The British Museum’s Portable Antiquities Scheme joined forces with ITV 1 to reveal the 50 greatest treasures discovered by the British Public in the last 20 years. The series aired over six nights and was presented by Michael Burke and Bettany Hughes, along with a whole host of celebrities including Brian Blessed, Gethin Jones, Jon Culshaw, John Sergeant and Michael Portillo who all helped to tell the tales behind some of the country’s most important historical finds.

We produced over 70 shots including the design and creation of a whole host of 2D animated maps and illustrations, CGI reconstructions of historic environments and buildings that were composited into the live-action sequences, as well as CGI reconstructions and animations depicting how the treasures would have looked in their prime. We used a variety of programmes to complete the work including Nuke and Fusion for compositing, 3D studio Max and Zbrush for modelling and the water effects were produced using a liquid simulator called Naiad.
