Black Slide

Written and Directed by Uri Lotan, and produced by Flipbook Studio and the Hive Studio, Black Slide is an Oscar Shortlisted, Annie Nominated and British animation Award winning short animated film, inspired by a moment from Uri’s childhood in Tel Aviv.

This 10 minute CG animation follows Eviah, a young boy as he sneaks into a water park to experience the scariest known water slide of the film’s universe, the Black Slide. Eviah is however, about to confront more then just a scary slide. Throughout the film, a sense of foreboding persists and grows as the character’s emotions are laid bare, we realise that there is more to the boy’s story than meets the eye.

The film is a co-production between Flipbook Studio and the Hive Studio. Currently doing the international festival and awards circuit, the film has already won best short film at the Haifa International festival, best animated film at the Olympia International Film Festival and Norwich Film Festival and has been officially selected for the Israeli Academy Awards, The London International Animation Festival, Spark Animation Festival, Cinanima and Anima amongst others. Most recently it won the audience award for best short-film at the prestigious British Animation Awards, was selected as a finalist in the best short-film category at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and has won the grand prize for short animated film at 3 Oscar qualifying film festivals, including Indy Shorts.
