War, What is It Good For?

We were commissioned by Codemasters to produce an online promotional trailer for their latest OFP title ‘RED RIVER’. Our pitch involved a fresh approach to video game trailer production that pushed a predominantly filmed/live action production with supportive CGI and VFX treatments.

We wanted to show that not only is film a great way of introducing a game story but when combined with CGI it utilises the benefits of both art forms and brings game worlds closer to our own real world experiences. We wrote the script and creative treatment to meet our client’s budget, with film and CGI in mind.

We shot all the internal helicopter scenes on a Canon 7D SLR and then edited and heavily treated the shots in post, adding lighting and VFX. All external shots of the helicopters and the Tajikistan environment were produced in Maya using various 3D CGI techniques.
